Collecting & drying the coffee grounds:
a job for Oostrem & Renewi
Oostrem is an organisation with a heart for people. They guide adults with intellectual, motor or multiple disabilities, and offer them meaningful daytime activities.. The community residents collect the coffee grounds locally at UZ Leuven and manually dry them in their own greenhouse in Herent. The residents at Oostrem are thriving on doing this job.

De Vlaspit is a social employment company where people with less opportunities on the job market are given the chance to work and follow an education. Reusing beer bottles: a collaboration with
Iwas
Our candle jars are made from beer bottles which would otherwise end up on the streets of India. To collect and upcycle these bottles, our Belgian partner Iwas is working closely with Indian organisations. They guarantee the project benefits the local community and at the same time contributes to a cleaner planet.

Wonen en Werken Tewerkstelling vzw is a social enterprise with activities in maintenance, cleaning, bio-farming and circular construction. At their site in Herent, they run our pilot production of coffee oil.

the bigger picture
circulatte is an initiative of More2Coffee, a Belgian startup with a clear mission: to establish a zero waste “coffinery” (coffee-based biorefinery). We transform coffee waste streams into sustainable raw materials. Together with our partners, we are developing ground(s)breaking applications for coffee oil and other coffee based resources .
